So the holidays are just about a month away and I’m gearing up for it. I do love this time of year…it’s just so cozy! it’s an excuse for all day pajamas, spiked egg nog, baked goods, and ugly Christmas sweaters. Which I’ve been told I can wear to work for the entire month of December so…good bye ugly work shirt! Hello giant ugly sweaters and leggings~
This year I’ve been using a new Visa debit for Christmas shopping. I’ve gotten so many supplies for wrapping gifts online and they’ve all been SO cheap! I can’t wait to start making gifts and wrapping them for family and friends! I’ve been digging through Pinterest for the last few months gathering ideas and pinning like crazy. This year I’m determined to make up for last years poor gifts. I stupidly bought all my room mates things before family because of a particular sale and family wound up with gift cards because I was in between jobs. I don’t think I’ve ever quite forgiven myself for that especially since I no longer speak to said room mates (they were batshit/weird/assholes all of a sudden) but I’m more than ready to make up for it this year! I’m also going to be purchasing my first Christmas Tree as an adult on my own and decorating it! I’ve also got a cat that’s mentally retarded (like actually, I’m not poking fun), and has no idea what a Christmas Tree is so…I can see myself having to Anchor it to a wall as inconspicuously as I can.
Though on another note today is the eve of the 50th Doctor Who anniversary. Basically, a day I’ve been looking forward to for the better part of a year. The last time I was this excited to watch something I was probably 10 and anticipating one of the first Harry Potter movies! however I work tomorrow until dinner time so I’m going to see how many customers can get my doctor references while I’m ringing them through just for the heck of it, Anticipation is always fun if you can make a game of it I suppose.
I also had a chance to volunteer at the only Comic Con/Sci-Fi convention east of Montreal this month! AND I LOVED IT. SO much talent filling one trade center I was just dimply in awe the entire time. Every single person who was dressed up to Cosplay was amazing, brave, and so very talented that it felt as if I couldn’t congratulate them enough whenever I stopped to talk and snap a picture. I was a gaming volunteer so I got to work with some great people and I made so many new friends! And guess what…? I MET THE 5th DOCTOR THERE. And he’s SO wonderful, he’s so polite, nothing but class and always willing to stop and chat and be a gentleman. I’m so grateful I got to meet Peter Davison, its a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m still rattled over it.
I also got to meet YaYa Han an internationally famous Cosplayer and she was just a dream! So wonderful and polite and she’s SO talented! And gorgeous, did I mention gorgeous? yeah she’s a stunner alright! Other guests I was fortunate enough to meet were Garret Wang of Star Trek and Billy Dee Williams of Star Wars! Garret is the funniest and most playful person ever and Billy is such a gentleman!
I’ve also learned that I have a yearning for Cosplay myself and as a result I will be taking at least part of a day next year to walk around in my own costume. So far it’s down between Clair Redfield and Jill Valentine circa RE Revelations. I’ve always wanted to be one or the other, since RE is possibly one of my all time favorite game series.
Well, that’s all that’s current and new on my end. What are your Christmas plans? Have you been into DIY for gifts? I’d love to hear!
Now, I’m off to go watch the new Adventures in Time and Space and to eat some pudding. A solid day off in my opinion!
